Salsa is arguably the most popular Latin street dance. this global
phenomenon is as irresistible as it is unavoidable.
although Salsa originated in Cuba, it is the result of many cultural
influences and instrumental combinations. during it's formative
years Salsa was known as "Son". later, exiled Cubans founded modern
Salsa in New York. they combined various elements from Son, Mambo,
Cha-Cha and flavoured it with Puerto Rican influence to produce
the exciting dance we experience today.
the huge growth in the popularity of Salsa is reflected by the
increasing number of clubs and attendance to festivals such as the
Bacardi Festival de Cuba.
